Seventeen Magazine and ASR put Spring 2009's hottest trends in motion during the September event
San Juan Capistrano, CA (August 14, 2008) - Fashion steps into the spotlight at ASR, as 85 swim lines and two runway shows will captivate eyes during the September 4-6th event. The Seventeen/ASR Runway shifts into high gear during ASR to give buyers a well rounded look at the latest sportswear and swim looks for next spring.
"ASR is best known for action sports products, but its show floor is representative of the entire industry and apparel and swim lines are increasingly driven by fashion elements," says Andy Tompkins, ASR Group Show Director. "This September our runway show and the incredibly strong list of swim brands will reinforce fashion's growing influence at ASR."
The Seventeen/ASR Runway Show runs twice during ASR on Thursday, September 4th and Friday, September 5th at 3:00PM in Hall E. Experience next season's lines as styled by Seventeen Magazine's fashion editors set to beats spun by DJ Albert Rosario.
"Seventeen is so excited to work on the ASR fashion show this year. We decided to build on the amazingly bright swimwear and created a theme called ‘It's Electric,'" says Marissa Grumer, Senior Market Editor for Seventeen. "We'll be focusing on the high energy of the season and pops of bright color we've been seeing in all the lines. It's been inspiring to see such fashion forward pieces from everyone which adds to what we think will be an awesome show."
As more high-end fashion brands introduce swimwear, they join the growing number of brands showing swim at ASR. Jessica Simpson, True Religion, b.Swim, L Space, Lucky, Vitamin A, Lisa Lozano, Despi, Paul Frank and Ralph Lauren represent just a few of the fashion focused swim brands at ASR. Over the last two years, Volcom, Lost, Hurley and Reef have joined beach culture driven swim stalwarts including Roxy, Billabong, O'Neill, Rip Curl, Rusty and Lucy Love.
"ASR has always attracted a solid mix of surf, swimwear and fashion buyers. With the collection of different brands we offer (Despi, Lisa Lozano and Ensemble)," says Paola Incisa, President of Marpessa Inc. "ASR allows us to connect with a good mix of the retail buyers and fashion editors we look to do business with."
